Winter Dual – Round 7 – Birthdays are best
It was a week of Birthdays… and what better way to celebrate than with Dual and Rum! A tradition started, well enforced, by birthday boy Rob Jolley two years ago when this happend. Revenge is a dish best served with Rum in my opinion. The other celebrant was non other than Rich ‘I can’t believe he’s a pro’ Baybutt.
Every expense was spared in the purchase of this rum. It was the cheapest on the Shelves and burnt pretty horribly on the way down. Thankfully, the birthday boys consumed the majority while those that wanted, just had a snifter to make them ride faster.
The racing was brilliant. It was our first dry night in the woods for a very long time, however, the loam was damp under rubber and the action was a slideways as ever. ie Perfect. With the points so close at the top, stakes are high and most of the fast lads turned out to ensure their spot was secure. It was tight racing with mistakes easily made and many victims falling foul of the slick corners.
Steph Anderson, the timing queen, was joined for the first time in ages by Laura James. They kept us running smooth… and I wont detail the slightly dubious timing error which fell in my favour, putting out Baybutt and putting me through. With rum in his belly he really didnt care, and just kept high fiving and racing Jolley at every opportunity. Like pigs in shit!
The post race celebrations continued in the Lezzer with a great turn out and more rum and beers.
So to the results. Close racing and my best result in ages.
