Winter Dual Round 3 – If pictures tell a thousand words what do videos do?
I’m a lover of hyperbole and some people just can’t have enough thrown in their direction; Richard Baybutt is one of them. Not only one of sheffield’s finest photographers (book him for anything from bikes to massive cocks to weddings, he won’t disappoint) he’s also genuinely one of the best men on the planet. What does this have to do with racing? Well he decided to turn his not inconsiderable talents towards the subject of Dual again and captured last rounds action in all its glory. Sit back and enjoy the chaos.
Another instant classic, endcliffes grip turned to grease in the space of 3 runs leaving the action sideways and shoulder to shoulder. The ridge line track features one very big right hander which is engineered to bring riders in to very close proximity and the shutdowns, shoves and blatant takes outs flowed, The first corner also turned out to be a pinch point being off camber, root filled and wrapping around a big tree. Several riders did not escape it upright. The last two turns also presented much consternation with a chicane before final sprint catching out yours truly and many others,
With Laura, soon to (finally) be Mrs Pearson on the timing buttons, racing was underway and the Pearson Rule set old first round buddies Dave Camus and Chrissy P in the gate first. These two were so evenly matched with one win each but Dave just crept in to the quarters 0.4 seconds ahead. Back at his first Dual since Howard St last year Steve Taylor brought his silky superstar 4x skills in to the woods. Facing up against seasoned racers Marco wood-bonelli Steve lost it in the first corners and just couldn’t make it up
In the quarters Timmy Faced Camus and Dave took the upper hand first run. 2nd run, Timmy was taking no prisoners and had him in to the big right hander (see 1:20 in baybutts video). Dave claims that he too much of a gent to take Tim out… you see for yourselves. Will Swinden continued the dominating form which took him straight to the big final and Joe Spivey pipped Rob Shaw. Chloe Taylor’s first Dual didnt go quite according to plan either (see 1:10) finding the edge of traction and blasting straight through it.
In the final finals Tim took third by putting in his fastest time of the night against Marco a time only matched by the nights winner, Will Swinden, who put the on form Joe Spivey in his place.
In the overall this leaves the top 3, Dave, Tim and Chris separated by only 3 points with Baybutt only 5 off. Although back in 7th Wills two wins will stand him in good stead when we start dropping our two worst scores.
Massive thanks to LJ for the timing and Don Baybutt for the video!! On to round 4, we’ve got some grass to get sideways on,
